The Nature of Prayer
Prayer is more about listening.
Prayer is powerful when consistent.
Prayer is effective when received.
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” ~Psalm 139:23-24
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. ~1 John 5:14
“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” ~James 4:3
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in allcircumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” ~1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 4:4-7

Becoming More Like Jesus
Breaking our pride and selfishness.
Change me and give me a new heart.
God breaks only those who bear fruit.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” ~Philippians 2:3
“No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.”~1 Corinthians 10:24
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” ~Ezekiel 36:26-27
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” ~John 15: 1-4

The Routines of a Holy Life
We are all called to live holy.
Jesus calls us into the world.
We are called to be salt and light.
“With it he touched my mouth and said, ‘See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.’ Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” ~Isaiah 6:7-8
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” ~Romans 12:1-2
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” ~Matthew 5:14-16
