Sometimes God shields us from suffering even when we have made a mistake and desrerve the consequences. Other times He allows us to suffer so that we will stop sinning and avoid a greater suffering. Also, God grows us spiritually thru allowing us to suffer consequences for our sins. He will build character in us and use our experiences - both good and bad - to show His glory and help others.
When we continue to ignore God's rebuke, His discipline will become more harsh. He will do all He can, short of taking away our freewill, to teach us and to help improve ourselves.
I have learned that when I submit to God's will and repent, I avoid the consequences that I rightly desreve. Instead, I am often rewarded - which I do not deserve.
Why "the eyes that see my sin, would look on me with love," I do not understand. But I am greatful to have a God who is not fair, but merciful.
Mercy is better.

I do believe in this. It is a vital part of my faith, knowing that if I am in a valley, I can pray and submit to God, and he will answer. It may not always be what I want, butin the end it is the best for me and all concerned.

I agree Knitter,

That's why I haven't answered this question. God answers our prayers, but sometimes we ask for something that we think is good but would be bad in the long run. God only gives good gifts.

If we don't get what we ask for, we can be sure God has given us something better.

These voting responses don't cover enough options i.e., God answers prayer, but often it is with His definitive answer, not merely a "yes" or a "no" to what we understand to be the choices.

It's interesting that music is the #1 answer. The contemporary service is designed that way. First song is call to worship, the following songs are intended to help the congregation connect to God and prepared our hearts and minds for the sermon. The idea is that listeners will get more out of the sermon this way.

But I have wondered at times, is everyone focused on God as they are singing or are we often simply enjoying the music? I think it's OK to enjoy the music, but the point is to focus on God. We are singing praises and worship to Him. The songs are meant to glorify God and not intended for our entertainment.

Children are individuals and what works for one child may not work for another. I reserve spanking as a last resort, but Only one of my children has never been spanked.

My two youngest are at an age where a reward system works well, but I need to find ways to balance rewards against helping them understand they shouldn't always expect to be compensated for everything they do well. Sometimes we just do good things because it's the right thing to do. AND because doing bad things is usually followed by bad consequences.

I agree. So many of the policies enacted under the guise of being environmentally friendly turn out to be worse for the environment. Fluorescent light bulbs contain mercury - there are a hazardous waste! We are causing more pollution and according to studies, we are not saving energy.

We are trapped in the ethanol market and we use a lot more oil to produce ethanol than gasoline. So we are causing more pollution to make a lower pollution fuel.

It's obvious politicians don't really care about anything except promoting policies that them in power.

I believe we need to take care of the earth the best we can - but "Global Warming" has become a marketing catch phrase - not a climatological condition. the earth's climate has always fluctuated and varied - take care of the planet but don't be sucked in by marketing gimmicks
